12-year-old injured in ATV crash in Wayne Twp.

SPRAGGS – A 12-year-old boy was taken by helicopter to an area hospital following an all-terrain vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon off Calico Run Road in Wayne Township.
The boy had been riding the ATV in a field when it apparently flipped over on him, state police Trooper Jay Allen said. The boy’s name was not released.
Allen said he was unsure of the extent of the youth’s injuries.
The Wayne Township and Blacksville, W.Va., volunteer fire companies were called to the scene about 4:45 p.m. and parked their vehicles at a residence at the intersection of Calico Run and Kirby Hill roads.
Emergency vehicles also could be seen in a field off Calico Run south of the intersection, apparently the scene of the crash.
Firefighters set up a landing zone on Route 218 just north of Spraggs and transported the boy there by ambulance. The helicopter landed and then waited for about 20 minutes before departing.
Route 218 was closed for about 45 minutes.
