CSX train derails in West Virginia; no gas leaks or injuries
NEW MARTINSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) – Officials say no one was injured after a train carrying liquefied petroleum gas derailed in West Virginia.
New Martinsville Fire Chief Larry Couch says that 10 CSX train cars ran off the tracks on the north side of the city early Thursday. He said four of the cars fell on their side, but there was no damage to the cars and no gas was released.
Couch said there is no danger to the public.
He said it’s unclear at this point what caused the derailment and that CSX officials are on the scene. The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Thursday.
