Coal Bowl tournament set Monday

The Carmichaels Lions Club’s annual Coal Bowl boys basketball tournament will be held Monday and Tuesday at Carmichaels Area High School.

The annual event is held to raise money for the Lion Club and its mission to help the blind.

The tournament on Monday will feature Carmichaels Area High School versus Mapletown High School at 6 p.m. and Beth-Center High School versus Jefferson-Morgan High School at 7:30 p.m.

The consolation game will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday and the championship game, which be broadcast live on Greensports.net, at 7:30 p.m.

Halftime activities during the championship game will be hosted by Doug Wilson of WANB radio.

One member of the audience could have the chance to try a half-court shot to win a three-year lease on a 2016 VW Jetta, donated by 3 Rivers Volkswagen.

Admission to the tournament is $5.

Prizes will be awarded both nights.

A 50/50 drawing also will be held.
