Police beat Dec. 29
Assault charge: Michael Lynn Gray II, 30, of 232 Highland Ridge Road, Buffalo Township, is charged by state police with simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, court records show. Police accuse Gray of striking his father in the head with his fist and a stick about 12:40 a.m. Sunday at his residence. He is in Washington County jail on $35,000 bond set by District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Assault case: George Brozenick Jr., 28, of 515 W. College St., Canonsburg, is charged by borough police with simple assault and public drunkenness, court records show. Police accuse him of assaulting his father about 10 p.m. Sunday at his residence. Brozenick is free on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Public drunkenness charge: Amanda Lynn Kempf, 30, of Washington, was charged by state police with public drunkenness Sunday after police said they found her unconscious on the road at Wayne Street and Buena Vista Avenue in Canton Township. Kempf was transported by ambulance to Washington Hospital.
Obscene messages received: Logan Tharp of 703 McConnells Mills Road, Chartiers Township, reported to police Sunday he received obscene messages on Facebook.
Two injured: Charlene K. Miller, 61, of Monessen, and Nathan Lavertue, 41, of New York, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision about 6 p.m. Saturday along Interstate 70 east near Pittsburgh Road, state police said. Lavertue was the driver of one of the vehicles, while Miller was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Tracy Burgman, 43, also of Monessen.
Retail theft cases: South Strabane police filed retail theft charges against two people last week. Sandra Marie Young, 44, of 905 Old West Road, Bentleyville, allegedly failed to scan and pay for 49 items valued at $453 in the self-checkout aisle at Walmart, Trinity Point, on Dec. 14. Brandy Emery of 225 Murdock St., Canonsburg, allegedly stole two packages of meat and a DVD valued at $63 at Sam’s Club, Trinity Point, on Thursday. A loss-prevention officer for Sam’s Club told police Emery placed the items in her purse and left the store. Charges will be sent by summons.
Harassment charges: Kimberly Diaz and Andre Ludwig will be cited for harassment by city police following an alleged incident at Family Shelter, 100 Highland Ave., early Monday morning. Police reported the two were involved in an argument. Ludwig agreed to leave the shelter for the night.
Harassment charges: Michael Gardner, 46, of 760 Ewing St., will be cited for harassment by city police after he allegedly kept calling Linda Keener of 470 Gladden Ave. on Sunday. Keener told police Gardner keeps calling her and leaving messages. He had been instructed not to contact Keener prior to Sunday’s alleged incident.
Simple assault charges: James Ferguson, 48, of 746 Ewing St, Washington., was arrested and charged with simple assault following an alleged incident at 515 Henderson Ave. involving Georgia Zavacki. City police said neighbors called 911 at 9 p.m. Saturday and reported Ferguson was standing outside, intoxicated and screaming. When they arrived, Zavacki told police Ferguson had struck her in the face. Police said Zavacki had visible injuries. Ferguson is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
Theft of jewelry: Patricia Truxel of Ridge Avenue told city police that three rings were stolen from a jewelry box in her bedroom sometime Friday. Police said Truxel requested to have the jewelry box dusted for fingerprints.
DUI alleged in crash: Casey Allen Schultz, 22, of Cambridge, Ohio, was arrested by city police for suspicion of DUI following a crash Christmas night in the 800 block of Main Street. Police said Schultz struck a pole. He allegedly admitted to drinking but reportedly refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test. Police said Schultz was driving with a suspended license and an expired vehicle registration. He had an open case of beer and an empty beer can in his vehicle, police said.
DUI charge: Eric Knight III, 24, of 84 First St., Westland, faces a DUI charge after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into two telephone poles, shearing them off, in the 500 block of East Maiden Street at 1:29 a.m. Friday. City police said his blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed.
Disorderly charges: Kathleen Dewey, 20, of 74 Christy Road, Eighty Four, Shayla Chandler, 19, of 52 Laurel Ave., Washington, and Savannah Johnson, 19, of 332 Sprowls Ave., Houston, were cited for disorderly conduct after city police said they found three marijuana cigarettes in the parked vehicle in which the women were seated in a private lot between Fayette and Bassett streets in Washington at 7:54 p.m. Thursday.
Simple assault charges: Dennis Robinson of Aliquippa faces simple assault charges after he allegedly struck Marvelle Robinson of Chestnut Street about 9:30 p.m. Thursday. Marvelle Robinson told police that Dennis Robinson had traveled from Aliquippa to spend the holiday with her, but the pair got into an altercation outside the residence. She alleges the two fell to the ground and Robinson held her down when she tried to crawl into the house. Police said Marvelle Robinson had visible injuries. Dennis Robinson fled, police said.
PFA violation alleged: Trevor Johnson, 39, of 324 Woodland Ave., Charleroi, was charged with indirect criminal contempt after allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order shortly before 8 p.m. Sunday. City police said Johnson was outside the residence of Suzanne Brinzer of 100 S. Franklin St., Washington, who had filed a PFA order against him. Police reported that Brinzer told them she had permitted Johnson to live with her for eight months but wanted him to leave because he was intoxicated.
Disorderly charge: Ashley Fields of 486 Ewing St., Washington, was cited for disorderly conduct following a disturbance she allegedly caused at 5:29 a.m. Saturday. Police said Tuesday Wheeler of 195 Grove Ave., Washington, reported Fields refused to leave her porch following an argument. Fields was handcuffed and placed in a patrol car, where she complained about being claustrophobic. Police opened three car windows and called for emergency personnel when they returned to the station. Fields was transported to Washington Hospital for treatment of seizure-like symptoms, police said.
