Firefighters responded to a house fire on the 400 block of Floral Hill Drive Tuesday in South Strabane Township after a porch fire spread into the upper interior of the home. A Washington County emergency dispatch supervisor said they received the call for the fire at 3:48 p.m. Fire companies from Washington, South Strabane and South Fayette extinguished the fire within 20 minutes. South Strabane fire chief Scott Reese said the lone occupant of the house escaped uninjured and was found trying to move his cars from a nearby garage. Though the cause of the fire is unclear, firewood and debris was stored where the fire started.
