Wheeling Jesuit to host drilling forum
WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) – Wheeling Jesuit University’s Appalachian Institute is hosting a public forum on drilling for oil and gas under the Ohio River.
The forum will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Panelists are Wheeling Jesuit professor of biology Ben Stout and Gastar Exploration, Inc. vice president Mike McCown.
Gastar recently won a bid to drill wells underneath a 232-acre state-owned tract under the river in Marshall County.
The university said several state legislators plan to attend the forum.
