Mt. Pleasant police get reports of suspicious vehicle

1 min read

Mt. Pleasant Township police received several reports Wednesday night of three men in a dark or gold-colored minivan who were going door to door through the township.

Chief Louis McQuillan said the van apparently was traveling from one end of the township to the other.

“We got calls that they were in Hickory, then in Westland and Cherry Valley, and then back in Hickory,” McQuillan said, adding that the calls started coming in about 5:30 p.m. and continued to about 7:30 p.m.

One of the men would get out of the vehicle and go to the door of a residence, claiming to sell either vacuum cleaners or cleaning products. McQuillan said the township has not issued any solicitation permits for this type of activity recently.

Police responded but were unable to locate the vehicle or occupants. McQuillan reminded residents not to allow anyone into their homes and urged anyone who is contacted to call 911.
