1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Pittsburgh’s humane society is investigating after a dog was found frozen to death in a cage in the city’s Spring Hill section.

The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society says people feeding cats in the area found the Shih Tzu Thursday afternoon.

The dog was wrapped in a blanket and had an “I (heart) Long Walks” collar.

Officials say they’re not sure how long the dog was there or when it died. They’ll perform a necropsy to determine the cause of death.

They say police could file charges in they determine the dog was neglected or abused.

Temperatures in Pittsburgh on Thursday ranged from a low of 8 degrees to a high of 25.
