5 injured when car hits hair salon; none life-threatening

1 min read

BUTLER (AP) – Five people have been hurt – mostly from broken glass – after a vehicle smashed into a western Pennsylvania hair salon.

Butler Township police tell the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that three people were treated at the scene and two others taken to the hospital after the vehicle smashed through the front window of Hair Specialist at Moraine Point Plaza. That’s about 30 miles north of Pittsburgh.

Police Lt. Matthew Pearson says none of the injuries was life-threatening.

Police did not immediately release the names of the victims or the driver, whose vehicle jumped a curb and crossed a sidewalk before hitting the business just before noon Thursday.

Helicopter video from WPXI-TV shows a white sport-utility vehicle being towed from the scene.

It’s not immediately clear why the SUV hit the business.
