Driver injured: One person was injured in an accident Friday morning involving a commercial delivery truck and a car on Route 40 (Main Street) at Maiden Street. Richeyville assistant fire Chief Chris Pohill said the crash occurred just after 8 a.m. The woman who was driving the car had to be freed from the wreckage by firefighters, Pohill said. She was flown from the scene to a Pittsburgh hospital. Pohill said Route 40 was closed for about three-and-a-half hours. State police in Belle Vernon are investigating the cause. Bentleyville firefighters also assisted at the scene.

Burglary reported: State police in Belle Vernon reported four houses owned by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on Circle Drive were burglarized between Dec. 5 and Feb. 5. Kitchen cabinets, plumbing and electrical fixtures were stolen. The properties were scheduled to be razed for the Interstate 70 interchange project.

Burglary charge: Glenn Derek Ghrist, 23, of 19 Bryson St., Dunbar, was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, filed by state police. Ghrist is accused of stealing two crossbows, a Remington shotgun and other items Sept. 22 from a garage in the 700 block of Old Route 71, Fallowfield. According to reports, Ghrist pawned the two stolen crossbows and a Remington 11-87 shotgun at a North Belle Vernon Cash on Broad Avenue, North Belle Vernon, resale shop. He was arraigned before District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail on a $25,000 bond.

Hydrant struck: Michelle L. Cole, 47, of Prosperity, escaped injury Wednesday morning when her northbound vehicle slid on a snow-covered Park Avenue near Walker Lane, South Franklin, went off the road and struck a fire hydrant, state police said.

Theft reported: John Reola reported to Southwest Regional police that $170 was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked on Hilltop Drive.

Drug charges: Brian E. Lyon, 33, of Donora, was charged by Southwest Regional police with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, drug possession and drug paraphernalia in connection with a traffic stop Jan. 29 at Route 88 and Ridge Avenue. Police said Lyon had suspected heroin, and he was arraigned by District Judge James Ellis and placed in Washington County jail.
