Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones says in a news release that the dump truck was heading west on Route 73 about 2:40 p.m. Friday when it struck a vehicle traveling south on Jacksonburg Road then hit a vehicle heading east.

The driver of the first vehicle was killed and a passenger was taken to a hospital. The dump truck driver and the driver of the second vehicle also were taken to a hospital.

The sheriff did not release the names of the victims and did not describe the condition of the three people who were injured.
