Persistent white-out conditions Saturday afternoon brought traffic to a crawl on major interstates in Washington and Greene counties without resulting in any serious vehicle accidents, state police said.

The storm was expected to usher in an Arctic cold front with dangerous winds and wind-chill temperatures of 25- to 30-degrees below zero into Sunday morning, the National Weather Service said.

The storm was expected to drop 2 to 5 inches of snow Saturday, and another inch of accumulation was possible today, the weather service predicted.

“Snow and blowing snow will cause hazardous driving conditions and low wind chills will be dangerous,” the weather service said, while urging people to remain indoors if possible.

There were many minor accidents across Washington County during the snow squalls Saturday, but no injuries were reported, a 911 supervisor said.
