Grandel to seek 4th term as treasurer
Cory L. Grandel announced his candidacy Monday for re-election for the office of Greene County treasurer, a position he held since 2004.
Grandel is a Jefferson- Morgan High School graduate and studied business and economics at the University of Pittsburgh. He received his bachelor of science in business administration from Waynesburg University, where he majored in finance.
He also attended the College for Financial Planning and graduated with a designation in financial counseling. In addition, he holds licenses in Uniform Securities State Investment Law, Risk Management and Investment Company products.
Grandel was a councilman for Rices Landing Borough, serving as chairman of the borough’s budget and finance committee. Grandel also was a school director for Jefferson-Morgan School District, where he was chairman of the budget and finance committee and served as school board treasurer.
He served on the Waynesburg Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors and as president of Greene County Youth Soccer Association.
In addition, he held the position of president of Greene County United Way and currently serves as a director. Grandel serves on the executive board for Pennsylvania State Treasurer Association and is a life member of National Rifle Association.
“I believe the combination of my experience, educational background and community involvement qualifies me for this position. With the best of my ability I will continue to satisfy the necessary duties and fiduciary responsibilities to the Greene County. I feel that our current financial needs and the challenges Greene County may face in the future can be addressed with my proactive nature and concern for detail. If re-elected, I will continue to proudly represent and serve the families of Greene County.”
Grandel was born and raised in the Dry Tavern area. He is the son of Bruce and Stephanie Grandel and the grandson of Dorothy and the late Paul Grandel of Dry Tavern and the late Steve and Anna Caro of Clarksville.
He and his wife, Laura Marquis Grandel, live in the Southeastern Greene area. Grandel has two children, Jaden and Molly.
