Police say incidents stemmed from refusal of alcohol service
Two men face charges after they became angry Sunday night when management at two South Strabane Township restaurants refused to serve them and a third man alcohol, police said.
Wesley C. Hyde, 27, of Tioga, Tioga County, and Rody J. Allshouse Jr., 32, of Dayton, Armstrong County, along with a 35-year-old acquaintance from Slippery Rock, Butler County, apparently were angry after they were refused service at Outback Steakhouse, Northgate Plaza, and TGI Friday’s, Strabane Square.
Police initially were called about 9:30 p.m. to TGI Friday’s for a report of three men creating a disturbance after they were denied service because they were showing signs of extreme intoxication. Police learned the trio left in a tan Chevrolet Silverado headed in the direction of Route 19.
South Strabane police Officer Eric Holt was traveling south on Route 19 near Racetrack Road when he saw a truck matching the description going north. Holt said the truck made a U-turn over a divided barrier in front of his cruiser and then headed south. The truck was fishtailing as it sped up, the officer said.
Holt stopped the truck and identified Hyde as the driver. During the traffic stop, police received a report of three men who started a disturbance after they were refused alochol service at Outback.
The men swore, spat and threw a chair, according to the report, before they left in a tan pickup truck, driving straight across the grass onto Route 19 going north. Police could see tire marks in the snow where the truck drove across the lawn. Restaurant management told police they did not want to press charges.
At TGI Friday’s, police learned that one of the men, identified as Allshouse, spat on the bar and threw a chair across the bar, breaking it. The men then allegedly got into Hyde’s truck and drove straight over the hill from the restaurant to the trafficway before turning onto Route 19.
Police said Hyde’s blood-alcohol content was more than one and a half times the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed. He will be charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to stay in his lane and reckless driving. Allshouse will be charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller. Police said the men are staying at a house on East Hallam Avenue in Washington.
