Canonsburg man waives sexual assault case to court

1 min read

A Canonsburg man accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside her home last month waived his case to court Wednesday after a charge of rape was withdrawn.

Brett Edward Folk, 43, waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of simple assault, indecent assault, harassment, criminal mischief, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and cruelty to animals in Central Court before District Judge Ethan Ward.

The alleged victim told Canonsburg police that Folk had been staying with her. She said that on Jan. 29, he was passed out when she came home for work. When he woke up, she said he started yelling for her and came up to her bedroom, pounding on the door with his fists.

When she did not let him in, he allegedly kicked open the door and assaulted her. Folk also allegedly threw her cellphone when she tried to call 911 and kicked her dogs.

Folk remains in Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond. He will be formally arraigned on the charges April 21.
