Reward offered after racist graffiti is found at Lincoln U.
LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. (AP) — A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest after racist graffiti was discovered at a historically black university outside Philadelphia.
A local prosecutor and chamber of commerce offered the reward Friday, a day after the vandalism was discovered on a sign at Lincoln University.
Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan says it’s a shame the university named after Abraham Lincoln has been subjected to disrespect. He says racism and ignorance won’t be tolerated in the county.
Chamber president Guy Ciarrocchi says the shocking, offense graffiti is made even worse because it targets students.
Lincoln says it’s taking steps to minimize opportunities for defacing property on its campus about 45 miles west of Philadelphia.
Lincoln has about 2,500 students. Its alumni include Thurgood Marshall and Langston Hughes.
