Experts to present marketing techniques
WAYNESBURG – Small businesses from Western Pennsylvania have a unique opportunity to learn how to effectively market their companies on a limited budget during a special seminar next month in Butler County.
“Shoestring Marketing: Creating Customers” will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 at the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course in Cranberry Township.
Hosted by the Pittsburgh & Its Countryside tourism marketing group, the seminar is sponsored and underwritten by participating destination marketing organizations from Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence and Mercer counties.
The cost to attend is $10 for members of the participating tourism agencies and $15 for nonmembers. Lunch is included. Registration is required, and the deadline is March 16.
Business owners operating on small marketing budgets are encouraged to attend and hear tips and strategies from several industry professionals.
Topics and presenters will include:
• “Developing an Effective Marketing Strategy” by Kimberly Loszewski, The Savvy Group
• “Finding Contacts and Building a Media List” by Holly Muchnok, East Wing Events
• “Tie Into Your Resources” by David Kahley, The Progress Fund, and Peggy Mazyck, Mercer County Tourism
Following the presentations, small business owners from the region will participate in a panel discussion and question and answer session about their own best practices. The panelists will represent a variety of businesses that have successfully implemented marketing plans with limited dollars.
The “Shoestring Marketing” seminar is a follow-up to the sold-out “Strategies for Successful Events” seminar held in November 2013.
“After the success of the last event, our counties were eager to provide another educational seminar for our local businesses,” said Elizabeth Menhart, Greene County Tourism director. “Marketing activities are sometimes a budgetary afterthought, but it is vital for local business owners to understand how to market themselves and sometimes do more with less.”
Transportation options will be available. For more information, or to pre-register for the “Shoestring Marketing” seminar, call Greene County Tourism at 724-627-8687.
