Police beat Feb. 25
PFA violation: Nathan S. Miller, 21, of 756 Findlay Lane, Washington, was arrested Monday night by state police for allegedly violating a protection-from-abuse order obtained by his 17-year-old estranged girlfriend from Judge Michael Lucas. The Amwell girl told police he sent her almost 90 text messages in violation of the order. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Drug arrest: Chet A. McLaughlin, 46, of 331 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Monday by Charleroi Regional police after they found him with empty stamp bags of suspected heroin and paraphernalia at his home. Police received a tip he was at the residence. McLaughlin was wanted on a bench warrant. He was arraigned on charges of possession of heroin and paraphernalia before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond, as well as on the warrant. He was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Larry Hopkins on additional drug charges. Hopkins set an additional $25,000 bond.
Simple assault charge: Christopher Richards, 30, of Washington, was jailed on a simple assault charge after city police said he punched, choked and dragged a woman by her hair inside their home at 601 Broad St. about 11 a.m. Tuesday. Richard was arraigned by District Judge Robert Redlinger and taken to Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Stolen check: Amanda McGary, 28, of 102 Hewitt Ave., Canton Township, was charged with forgery and receiving stolen property after city police said she used a check signed by her father-in-law to purchase $160 worth of merchandise at CVS, 175 E. Beau St., Feb. 17. Police said she came back to the store the following day and returned $103 of the merchandise for cash.
Tools stolen: Washington police said numerous tools worth $4,000 to $5,000 were stolen from the rear of a work van parked in the 100 block of Wellington Avenue between Jan. 26 and Feb. 23.
