A Chartiers Township woman was sentenced Wednesday to 6 to 23 months in jail for her role in the sex assaults of two teenage girls.

Kimberly Campbell, 37, of 611 Railroad St., pleaded guilty before Washington County Judge Valarie Costanzo to two misdemeanor counts of indecent assault without consent and one count of misdemeanor criminal conspiracy to commit indecent assault. As a part of a plea agreement, the remaining charges against Campbell were not processed.

Campbell has been in jail since she was arrested in July and was given credit for time served. She is expected to be released from Washington County jail today.

Campbell, along with co-defendant Gary W. Bates, 43, of the same address, was accused of sexually assaulting two girls, ages 13 and 19, in January, April and June at their home in the village of Midland.

Assistant District Attorney Kristin Clingerman said, “it appears (Campbell) was under the control and at the behest of the co-defendant.” She said Campbell was willing to testify against Bates if he went to trial.

Bates pleaded guilty Tuesday before Costanzo to a host of charges, including involuntary deviate sexual assault and indecent assault. He was sentenced to 8 to 16 years in prison and ordered to register with the Sex Offenders Registration and Notification Act for the remainder of his life.

In addition to the jail sentence, Costanzo sentenced Campbell to three years of probation and ordered her to undergo a drug, alcohol and mental health evaluation. She is to register under SORNA for the next 15 years.

Campbell is not to have contact with the victims. She is also prohibited to live at the Railroad Street address while on probation.

Her attorney, Brian Gorman, declined to comment after the hearing.
