Pittsburgh police arrest suspect in Christmas Eve killing

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police have arrested one of two suspects in the fatal Christmas Eve shooting near a Pittsburgh home where a sexual assault attempt was reported hours earlier.

Ronald Steave was arraigned Tuesday on charges of homicide, conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, abuse of a corpse and carrying an unlicensed firearm.

The 22-year-old is jailed without bail. Online court records didn’t list information on a lawyer to comment on the charges.

Police said 23-year-old Devin Jackson’s body was found in a wooded area off an alley in the city’s Homewood section.

Officers had responded to an attempted sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl and a 6-year-old about nine hours earlier.

Police say Jackson was involved in an incident in the home but wouldn’t say if he was suspected of attempting sexual assault.
