Police say duo raped 12-year-old

WAYNESBURG – Two Waynesburg men are scheduled to be arraigned today before Magisterial District Judge Lou Dayich on charges they raped a 12-year-old girl last summer in Waynesburg Borough.
Morgan Elias Hunt, 19, of 109 Saw Mill Road, and Timothy Allen Temple, 18, of 515 S. Porter St., are both charged with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual contact or communication with a minor, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age and corruption of minors.
Waynesburg Borough police Chief Rob Toth said the mother of the girl brought her to the police station on Dec. 10 to report what had taken place. The girl’s mother told Toth she was made aware of gossip that Hunt and Temple had sex with the now-13-year-old. When confronted, the girl, who was harming herself by cutting, according to the criminal complaint, told her mother what occurred.
She was taken to Washington Hospital Dec. 15 for a forensic interview in which the girl admitted Hunt and Temple had sex with her when she was 12 and they were both 18 years old. In late January, the girl was interviewed by Toth about what transpired and she provided details. Toth said the girl told him they had sex at an abandoned house at 45 S. Liberty Ave. in August.
Toth interviewed Temple Feb. 12 at his residence and Hunt Feb. 25 at the police station.
Temple allegedly admitted having sex with the girl at the Liberty Avenue address and claimed he did not remember much about it because he was intoxicated. Toth said Temple acknowledged knowing the girl was just 12 at the time, according to the criminal complaint filed before Dayich.
Hunt also indicated he knew how old the girl was in August 2014, according to Toth.
The preliminary hearing for both men is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. March 5.
