Teacher’s aide hearing continued
A preliminary hearing for a Washington High School teacher’s aide accused of having sex with a student was continued.
Tracy Ardeno, 45, of 185 Wellington Ave., Washington, appeared Wednesday with her attorney, Joseph Yablonski, before District Judge Robert Redlinger for the scheduled hearing. Instead of proceeding with the hearing, Ardeno requested a continuance.
Ardeno, who has been fired from the Washington School District, was charged Jan. 9 with a felony count of institutional sexual assault after she and a high school senior, who is over 18, reportedly had sex in her vehicle in early December.
A teacher alerted district officials after reportedly seeing Ardeno picking up the teen Dec. 3 at the Subway restaurant directly across from the high school on Jefferson Avenue. Police and school officials do not believe Ardeno and the student had any physical contact at school.
Between Dec. 3 and 8, the two reportedly drove around the Washington area and ended up at Washington Cemetery, where they allegedly had sex. Police believe the two had sex on only one occasion.
The preliminary hearing was rescheduled to March 30.
