PITTSBURGH (AP) – Five people were hurt when police said a fugitive crashed into another car during a chase in downtown Pittsburgh.

Officers chased 23-year-old Devon Davis on foot after the crash Wednesday and found him in a pool of blood at a nearby intersection with injuries to both legs.

A city spokeswoman said Davis was wanted on bench warrants involving illegal gun possession and gun delivery charges.

After the chase, police charged him with escape, resisting arrest, flight to avoid apprehension, reckless endangerment and other offenses.

Two children were injured in the crash. Police said they suffered minor injuries.

Davis is listed in fair condition.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported police Chief Cameron McLay is looking into statements from witnesses who said officers used excessive force when they apprehended Davis.
