A Monongahela woman died after sustaining injuries in a two-vehicle accident in Somerset Township Saturday night.

Donna P. Simboli, 58, was a passenger in a Ford sedan that collided with a Chevrolet truck at about 7:24 p.m. at state Route 136 and Brownlee Road, state police reported. The sedan was traveling east on Route 136; the truck was traveling north on Brownlee. The sedan was hit in the passenger side, state police said, after the truck’s driver, Tyler Buck Belford, 34, failed to yield the right of way.

Simboli was to be taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital but was pronounced dead at 8:55 p.m. in the ambulance at the landing zone prior to transport, Washington County Coroner Tim Warco reported. He listed the cause of death as blunt force trauma.

State police identified the driver of the sedan as Christopher Weber, 44. He was taken by helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for moderate injuries. Belford was treated for minor injuries at Washington Hospital.

State police said investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Assisting at the scene were personnel from Valley Inn, Fallowfield Township and Ellsworth fire departments and Fort Cherry Ambulance Service.
