Simple assault charge: Benjamin McAuliffe, 21, of 1552 Walters St., Monongahela, was charged by Carroll Township police with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct for allegedly threatening a female driver and her 9-year-old son during an apparent road rage incident Dec. 21 near Fourth Street. Police said McAuliffe turned his vehicle sideways and blocked the road, then approached and shouted at the driver behind him and held up what police believe was a BB gun that looked like a semiautomatic. He was arraigned by District Judge Mark Wilson and taken to Washington County jail Friday on $5,000 bond.
