1 min read

One person has been found dead after a house fire in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Fayette County 911 dispatchers confirmed the fatality in Georges Township, but police and fire officials have yet to release the victim’s name.

Investigators were probing the cause of the fire, which was reported about 4 a.m. Sunday.

Also Sunday, a medical examiner identified a woman found dead after a fire at her senior citizens high-rise near Pittsburgh, but the cause of her death and the fire remained under investigation.

Allegheny County authorities say the victim of the fire in Baldwin, just south of the city, is 73-year-old Sara Locante. She lived in a ninth-floor apartment of Baldwin Towers, a public housing building for older and disabled residents.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. Saturday.

The county fire marshal is investigating and attempting to determine whether cigarette smoking led to the fire.
