Greater Washington County Food Bank to hold Produce to People event at fairgrounds

Greater Washington County Food Bank will hold its first Produce to People event of the new year today.

The distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at Washington County Fairgrounds, 2151 North Main St., Washington. Clients do not need to bring any proof of income, documentation or identification to receive food. Registration takes place at the distribution site. Clients will receive between 35 and 45 pounds of food and are asked to bring bags, boxes or a rolling cart to carry the food.

Any household that meets the following criteria qualifies:

• Earn income within 150 percent of the poverty level

• Receive Medicare, Social Security, unemployment or free or reduced-price school lunch

• Have a temporary emergency situation (such as being a victim of a fire or flood).
