Jefferson firefighters battle early morning blaze
JEFFERSON- Jefferson Volunteer firefighters were called to a structure fire in Jefferson Borough shortly before 4 a.m. Monday. Fire Chief Duane Walters said the state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire at 123 Elizabeth Ave.
Homeowner, Julia Guthrie Edwards, 21, was asleep when the fire broke out somewhere at the front of the mobile home, Walters said. It was Edward’s dog that awakened her and alerted her of the fire, he added.
Firefighters were at the scene for more than three hours in below freezing temperatures.
