Trinity hires assistant superintendent, elects officers
Trinity Area School Board tapped longtime high school principal and alumnus Donald Snoke to serve as assistant superintendent.
Snoke is a 1978 graduate of Trinity High School and served as high school principal for the past 15 years. He is currently pursuing his doctorate.
“Mr. Snoke is a well-respected pillar of this community who has contributed much of his career to the longstanding tradition of excellence at Trinity Area School District. He has established strong positive relationships with students, staff and parents that have enhanced the school environment,” said Superintendent Michael Lucas. “I am thrilled that Mr. Snoke is currently finishing his doctoral work and will share the latest educational research and best practices with our staff.”
Before he became an administrator at Trinity, Snoke taught in Washington School District for 10 years and coached football, wrestling and track.
A graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, Snoke earned his master’s of science degree in education, Pennsylvania principal’s certification and his superintendent’s letter of eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania.
“I’m excited and honored to be considered for the position and I look forward to working with the board of school directors and Dr. Lucas as we try to continue to improve the academic performance of the Trinity students,” said Snoke.
The board approved a five-year contract for Snoke, with a starting salary rate that remains the same as his principal salary.
Snoke will continue to serve as the high school principal until a replacement is hired.
In another matter, the school board voted to keep Jennifer Morgan as president for the 2014 calendar year during its Dec. 4 reorganization meeting.
Also retained during the board’s reorganization meeting were Kerrin McIlvaine as vice president and Peacock Keller of Washington as district solicitor.
The school board also unanimously approved Sean Dobich to fill a vacant seat on the school board, representing Amwell and North Franklin townships. His term will end in December 2015.
Meetings will be held the first and third Thursdays of the month at 6:30 p.m. in 2015, with the exception of January, July and December.
