Feds says NY man threatened police online after NYPD deaths

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) – A New York man who allegedly issued online threats against police officers was charged with a federal crime.

The U.S. attorney’s office said Jeremy Mott of Mount Vernon, arrested Tuesday, made the threats on Facebook and Instagram on Dec. 24, three days after two New York City police officers were killed.

A complaint said Mott’s threats included a photograph of someone firing into a police car through a window, which is how the NYPD officers were shot.

According to the complaint, the Facebook message said, “If the cops in Mount Vernon think they can follow the madness this is how they are going to end up.” The Instagram message included the phrase “not playing no games.”

Mott was released on bond. His attorney didn’t immediately return a call.
