Fire causes minor damage
WAYNESBURG – A fire started in a garbage can outside a house at 172 S. Morgan St., Waynesburg, causing minor damage to the vinyl siding.
The Waynesburg-Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Co. was called about 12:30 p.m. to the house, occupied by Laurie Long.
The fire was extinguished by Lewis Fox of Waynesburg, who was walking by and used a shovel to throw snow on the fire, Long said.
Long said she had smelled smoke inside when she came home for lunch. She said she looked out and saw Lewis shoveling snow on the fire. The fire company responded, checked the house and used a fan to remove smoke from inside the building.
