New building, new companies coming to Hanover Twp.
A new building housing both a precious metals business and an herbal products manufacturer is planned for the Washington County Council on Economic Development Starpointe development in Hanover Township near Burgettstown.
HRP Metals Inc. of Overlook Drive, Sewickley, and Komal Herbals Inc. of Robinson Township, Allegheny County, will be occupying the 4.7-acre site in Starpointe in a 25,500-square-foot building on Todd Drive.
The businesses, in a Washington County Industrial Development Authority application, expressed an intention to move to Starpointe so they can consolidate two locations into one and can own the property rather than lease.
There is no room for expansion at their Allegheny County locations.
HRP Holding Co. asked the industrial development authority to issue a $2,560,000 construction note to finance the building and a $500,000 note to finance the purchase of new equipment. The bank involved in the financing is PNC.
The companies employ six people, and, with the move to the newly constructed building in Starpointe, they hope to add nine to 12 jobs in the next two years.
Principal owners are Hasmukh and Abhishek Parekh. A call to HRP was not immediately returned Wednesday.
According to its website, High Reliability Precious Metals produces chemicals, powders, flakes, master alloys for sterling silver and karat gold and also creates custom products by request.
It refines and reprocesses gold, silver, platinum and other industrial products.
“We specialize in refining industrial waste, high or low in precious metals including hazardous materials containing solvents and resins, electronic materials, used jewelry and everything from scrap to polishing sweeps,” the website states.
It supplies precious metal products for use in electronic, electric, defense, pharmaceutical, fertilizer and automotive industries. The products are widely acclaimed for their quality and performance and we have the privilege of meeting exacting requirements of these industries.
Powder and flake applications include polymeric thick-film materials, backlight pastes, conductive ink and epoxy adhesives, electrical contacts and batteries.
The metals firm was formed in 1993 and 12 years later, Komal Herbals Inc. began manufacturing whole-herb foods and supplements in accordance with the Ayurvedic traditional medicine of India.
A public hearing on the request was convened Tuesday at the offices of the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, Southpointe, and the authority adopted resolutions in support of the project at a public meeting Dec. 18.
Under the Internal Revenue Service Code, the governmental body appointing the members of the issuing authority must also approve the issuance of the bond, said Lynn DeHaven, county solicitor.
In this case, the county commissioners appointed those who serve on the board of the industrial development authority.
Official action this morning by the commissioners does not create a liability for the commissioners or the authority.
