Woman jailed: Wanetta P. Scagline, 54, of 916 McKean Ave., Charleroi, is charged by the Washington County sheriff’s office with flight to avoid apprehension over allegations she fled through her home’s basement when deputies attempted to take her into custody about 7:15 a.m. Dec. 16 on a probation violation. She was arrested on a bench warrant Tuesday and sent to Washington County jail on $100,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
Vehicle crash: Mario Desch, 2301 Flint Drive, Washington, escaped injury Tuesday morning when his car went off Fischer Road and hit a tree, South Strabane police said.
Mother, son jailed: Brenda Kempf, 51, and her son, Richard Kempf, 31, both of 350 Duncan Ave., Washington, were arrested Tuesday in connection with a burglary at their neighbor’s apartment. Police charged Richard Kempf with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property over accusations he stole a guitar and tools from two men, court records state. City police said the guitar was located when Brenda Kempf allowed officers into her apartment about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. She was charged with receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins. He sent her son to jail on $30,000 bond.
Theft: Angie Monzon, of 280 College St., Washington, reported a laptop, cellphone, clothing and medication missing Tuesday, Washington police said.
