Waynesburg zoning approves variance for small recreational vehicle park

1 min read

WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Zoning Hearing Board granted a variance Monday to allow a small recreational vehicle park with space for two recreational vehicles to be developed in a vacant lot at the bottom of South Richhill Street.

Charles and Sharon Zimmerman had requested the variance for property at 377 S. Richhill St. The property is on the west side of the street behind a small brick utility building.

The area is zoned M-1 manufacturing. A variance was required because the proposed use is neither a permitted use nor a special exception in an M-1 zone.

The board approved a variance allowing the couple to install two recreational vehicles at the site. It required that the recreational vehicles remain mobile and conform with standards apparently taken from another municipality’s zoning ordinance.

The borough’s zoning ordinance does not include standards and requirements for recreational vehicle parks.
