Burglary reported: Darrell Diaz of 316 Hawthorne St. told Canonsburg police Friday a 50-inch flat screen television was stolen when his home was burglarized. The burglar also went through several drawers.
Prowling, resisting charges: Samuel David Smith, 47, of 965 Craynes Run Road, Waynesburg, was charged Thursday by East Washington police with loitering and prowling at night, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and public drunkenness stemming from a Dec. 12 incident. Police were called to the 100 block of Lemoyne Avenue for a possible burglary in progress. South Strabane police spotted Smith on a side porch of a home. He ran from police. Another South Strabane officer spotted him in a yard on Christman Avenue. He ran again but was tackled by a township officer. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Three charged: Toni A. Kennedy, 48, and Charles Kennedy, 54, whose last known address was Washington Street, Jefferson, and Lisa L. Kennedy, 29, whose last known address was Conway, S.C., are wanted by South Strabane police for allegedly stealing items from Lowe’s, Strabane Square, on several dates in September and returning them for gift cards. Toni Kennedy allegedly stole several buckets of paint and a heater. All three are accused of returning the items for gift cards. The stolen items were valued at $1,364. Toni Kennedy is charged with retail theft, conspiracy and theft by deception. The other two are charged with conspiracy, theft by deception and receiving stolen property. Warrants for their arrest will be issued by District Judge Jay Weller. The charges were filed Thursday.
DUI crash: Michael J. Cleveland, 22, of 85 Northview Court, Washington, was charged Thursday by South Strabane police with driving under the influence of alcohol stemming from a March 29 crash on Zediker Station Road and Floral Hill Drive. When police arrived, they found him on the ground about 15 feet from his vehicle. His blood-alcohol content was more than three times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.
Van painted: Kimberly Jenkins of 622 ½ Fayette St. told Washington police Thursday vandals sprayed dark paint on her minivan.
Purse stolen: Shawn Vaughn of 440 Canton Ave. told Washington police Thursday that his girlfriend’s purse was stolen when his home was burglarized. Police siad it appears the burglar broke out a basement window and entered the residence.
Charged in crash: Samuel Eli Scherich, 24, of 600 Gun Ridge Road, West Finley, was charged Wednesday by state police with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failing to stay in his lane, leaving the scene, failure to drive at a safe speed and careless driving stemming from a one-vehicle crash Aug. 24 in the 900 block of Beham Ridge Road, West Finley. His BAC was almost 2 ½ times the 0.08 limit presumed for intoxication. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Ethan Ward.
