Space heaters spark fire in Morris
Two electric space heaters caused a fire inside a Morris Township mobile home Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to 274 Bells Lake Road about 9:30 a.m. and extinguished the blaze inside the home’s bedroom, Morris Township fire Chief Dave Dietrich said.
The homeowner was able to contain the blaze to the bedroom with an extinguisher before crews arrived, Dietrich said. The woman, whom the fire chief declined to identify, suffered minor smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene. Two children inside the house escaped uninjured.
Dietrich said two electric space heaters in the bedroom overloaded the circuits, leading to the fire. He estimated the fire caused about $2,000 worth of damage to the bedroom.
Firefighters from South Franklin, North Franklin and Amwell assisted Morris Township.
