Teens charged as adults in beating at Pittsburgh group home

1 min read

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Two Pittsburgh teens have been charged as adults after police say they beat a fellow group home resident so severely he had to be revived by paramedics.

Police charged the 15-year-old and 16-year-old boys with aggravated assault and attempted homicide in the attack Saturday night at the Circle C Group Home in the city’s Carrick neighborhood.

They remained jailed Monday in lieu of $100,000 bail each and could not be reached for comment. Court records did not list information on their lawyers. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 16.

Police say the teens punched and kicked the teen victim, put him in a chokehold and struck him in the stomach and ribs with a vacuum cleaner. He’s hospitalized in critical condition.

Public welfare officials are also investigating.
