Three firearms stolen during gun show, Chartiers police say

1 min read

Chartiers Township police are investigating the theft of at least three firearms during a gun show held over the weekend at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

George Korbel of New Cumberland, W.Va., reported a Winchester rifle valued at $700 was stolen while he was assisting customers Saturday. The following day, Robert Miller of Big Bob’s Shooting Supplies, Blairsville, reported a DPMS Panther Arms AR-15 rifle valued at $650 was stolen from his table.

Charles Poliacek of Pittsburgh discovered Monday a Kimber 9mm pistol was stolen. He did not discover the theft until he returned home from the show, where he was a vendor.

Chief James Horvath said there have been several gun shows at the fairgrounds in the past but this is first time that there has been a problem with thefts.

“I don’t believe this is just random,” he said. “We never had this before.”

Horvath said there was only one entrance at the show.

He will encourage the operator to tighten security at future shows.
