Man arrested on drug charges
Canonsburg police arrested a Strabane man Thursday afternoon on drug charges after he allegedly sold a prescription narcotic to a confidential informant.
Robert E. Garrison, 24, of 200 Latimer Ave., Strabane, was taken into custody during a traffic stop after allegedly selling the narcotic Adderall to the informant in a West Pike Street parking lot. Police said Garrison did not have a legitimate prescription for the drug, often used to treat attention deficit disorder. Police said they found additional drugs and the “buy money” in the center console of his vehicle.
Police Chief Al Coghill prescription medication abuse is considered a major problem.
“We have found that it often goes hand in hand with heroin use,” the chief added.
Garrison is charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver narcotics. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 29 before District Judge David Mark.
