Police beat Jan. 20
Assault arrests: Albert Johnson, 36, of 451 Highfield Ave., Canonsburg, and Tara Bates, 29, of 209 S. Central Ave., Canonsburg, were arrested early Sunday by borough police stemming from a confrontation at her home. He is accused of grabbing her around the neck and jamming a knife in the kitchen wall near her head. She is accused of cutting him in the leg with a knife. He was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. Police said both were intoxicated. Both were arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of simple assault, harassment, reckless endangerment and disorderly conduct. They were placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bonds.
Cashier conned: A manager at McDonald’s, 100 Bobby Vinton Blvd., told Canonsburg police Saturday night two women conned a cashier out of $100 during a quick-change scam.
Theft attempt: Lou Shuman of 1362 Henderson Ave. told Chartiers police Sunday an attempt was made to steal a pickup truck. The steering column was damaged, and a screwdriver was jammed in the ignition.
Woman arrested: Jennifer Horner, 40, of Houston, was arrested Sunday by Chartiers police after she allegedly assaulted Heather Young at Young’s home at 563 Brigich Road. Horner is accused of pulling Young’s hair out and punching her. She also is accused of breaking a glass fish tank. Horner was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of simple assault, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and harassment. She was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Crash reported: Damien McIntyre, 36, of 473 Cleveland Road, North Franklin Township, was driving east in the 1500 block of Henderson Avenue Friday night when his vehicle went off the road and hit three large boulders and a utility pole before spinning into the westbound lane, Chartiers police said. He was taken to an area hospital, where police said blood was drawn to determine his alcohol level.
Trespass charge: McDonald police said Richard Stankowski, 40, of 514 W. Grove Ave., McDonald, will be charged with defiant trespass after he was found at 110 S. McDonald St. Sunday. The property owner had banned him from the property.
Burglary arrest: Michael D. Crispin, 52, of 44 Cracraft Road, Washington, was arrested Sunday morning on charges of burglary and criminal trespass after he allegedly was spotted by state police leaving an abandoned house in the 400 block of Grove Road in Morris. Crispin was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released on his own recognizance.
Counterfeit money: North Franklin police said a counterfeit $10 bill was passed Friday at Taco Bell, 1340 W. Chestnut St. The man who passed the money told police he got it in change from a Washington grocery store.
DUI charge: John Kelvington, 38, of Imperial, will be charged by McDonald police with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Robinson Highway Saturday night. Police were initially called to assist Mt. Pleasant police for a report of two men fighting in the middle of the 300 block of Fort Cherry Road. Both men fled before police arrived, but a description of the vehicle was broadcast. Police said they spotted Kelvington’s vehicle and stopped it.
Robbery, assault charge: Samuel Wheeler, 55, no known address, was arrested Saturday by Washington police on charges of robbery, simple assault, theft from a vehicle and receiving stolen property. He is accused of assaulting a Washington woman after he was confronted for allegedly taking a backpack containing a Samsung tablet out of her vehicle parked at CoGo’s, 501 Jefferson Ave. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller.
Assault charge: Melissa Chappell, 39, of 59 W. Katherine Ave., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with simple assault for allegedly hitting George Rogers Saturday during a confrontation at his Maryland Avenue home.
Vehicle vandalized: Kimberly Jenkins of 622 ½ Fayette St. told Washington police Friday a vandal put sugar in the gasoline tank of her vehicle.
