Police beat Jan. 21
Jewelry stolen: Deborah Mounts of 416 Peco St. told Canonsburg police Monday jewelry including two weave bracelets, a rope bracelet and rope chain were stolen from her home. The approximate value of the jewelry is $3,000.
DUI alleged in crash: Danielle M. Casper, 45, of 107 Pine Ave., Houston, was charged Friday by state police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and traffic violations stemming from a Dec. 24 crash at West Wylie and Pennsylvania avenues, Canton. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Drug charges: David Michael Cox, 32, of 108 Columbia Drive, Canonsburg, was charged Friday by state police with possession of heroin, Suboxone and paraphernalia stemming from a Jan. 13 traffic stop off Weirich Avenue in Canton. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Warrant arrest: David M. Strohmeyer Jr., 32, of New Freeport, was arrested Saturday on a warrant obtained by Cecil police on a charge of theft. He is accused of stealing copper welding leads and bronze plates valued at $12,000 from Alvarez Inc., 786 Morganza Road, in December 2013. Strohmeyer was working for the company and was suspected of stealing items and selling them at a local salvage yard, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $7,500 bond.
False reports charge: Adeline Steede, 33, of 111 Ivy Court, Chartiers, was charged Friday by Chartiers police with false reports. She allegedly called 911 and reported her father was assaulting her mother. Police arrived and learned the woman was not being assaulted. The charge will be filed by summons from the office of District Judge David Mark.
Drug arrest: Shakal Brooks, 18, of 134 Thompson Ave., Donora, was arrested Sunday by Donora police on charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver marijuana and criminal use of a communication facility stemming from an incident in the 400 block of Fifth Street. Police said he was acting suspiciously, fumbling with his pocket. When they checked him, police said they found the suspected marijuana. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Two face charges: Dominick Delbello, 24, and John Kelvington, 38, both of Imperial, will be charged by Mt. Pleasant police with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after they allegedly pulled over in their vehicle and fought with each other at Millers Run and Fort Cherry roads. They reportedly fled but were later apprehended by McDonald police.
One injured: Edward Keerney, 75, of 60 Robin Drive, Canonsburg, was injured Monday morning when a truck driven by Gary Neubauer, 63, of Pittsburgh, made a left turn into his path on Morganza Road at McClelland Road, North Strabane police said. Keerney was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Driver charged: Zaie Escribano, 33, of Canonsburg, was arrested Sunday by state police stemming from a crash on Interstate 79 southbound near the Houston exit. Police said his vehicle hit an embankment and overturned. Police said he refused to submit to blood-alcohol testing. Escribano was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and traffic violations. He was released on his own recognizance.
Truck damaged: Thomas Miller of Atlasburg told South Strabane police Thursday his pickup truck was scratched while he was working at Hapchuk, Rankin Road.
Drug charge: Joseph E. Gorby, 26, of 619 Best Avenue, Washington, was charged Tuesday by Washington police with possession of heroin and careless driving. Gorby is accused of overdosing Oct. 23, passing out behind the wheel of a vehicle and striking a parked vehicle along the 100 block of West Beau Street, Washington police said. Police had to break a window in the vehicle to get to Gorby and drug related items were found nearby. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Simple assault: Melissa Chappell, 39, of 59 W. Katherine Avenue, Washington, was charged Tuesday by Washington police with simple assault. Chappell is accused of attacking George Rogers at his home along the 600 block of Maryland Avenue Saturday, Washington police said. The charge was sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
False reports: Adam D. Hartzell, 26, of 1199 Roy Furman Highway, Graysville, was charged Tuesday by state police with false reports and disorderly conduct. Hartzell is accused of telling police his vehicle was stolen when he abandoned his vehicle after it became stuck while driving in the woods, state police said. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
