Student faces bomb threat charges
WAYNESBURG – Waynesburg Borough police will file charges against a student at Margaret Bell Miller Middle School allegedly responsible for a bomb threat at the school Monday.
The 13-year-old girl was identified as the person responsible for the threat by school administrators through interviews with students, police Lt. Dale Phillips said.
Students were evacuated from the school about 11 a.m. Monday after the threat was discovered written in pencil on a bathroom wall indicating a bomb would explode Monday afternoon.
Students were taken to a safe location in another building while police, aided by several bomb-sniffing police dogs, searched the building. Students were returned to the building about 2 p.m. after the building was determined to be safe.
Phillips said the girl will face juvenile charges including threats to use weapons of mass destruction, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct. Her name was not disclosed.
