Several pleaders sentenced in court
WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants pleaded guilty last week in Greene County Court. They included the following:
Jeremy Ryan Orndoff, 24, 762 Stone Hill Road, Rogersville; offense – theft from a motor vehicle. Orndoff was arrested for stealing three 12-volt batteries from a vehicle parked at a Northeast Energy Management, Inc. well pad in Center Township June 7, 2013; sentence – 15 days to 6 months incarceration consecutive to two other cases involving theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Orndoff was ordered to pay $300 in fines, plus court costs and fees and to serve 75 hours of community service.
David A. Swaney, 26, of 3145 Mount Morris Road, Waynesburg; offense – receiving stolen property. On Oct. 3, Swaney stole a welder valued at $600 from Jim Mason of 71 N. Mason St., Waynesburg, and sold it to the Waynesburg Gold and Coin Exchange for $100; sentence – 30 days to one year in jail, consecutive to three previous sentences involving access device fraud, forgery and child endangerment. He was ordered to pay $250 in fines, plus court costs and fees and to serve 225 hours of community service.
Brendan Alan Hepner, 27, of 199 North Hill Road, Graysville; offense – unsworn falsification to authorities. Hepner attempted to purchase a firearm at Orndoff Sporting Goods in Gray Township May 3 despite having a previous criminal record that prohibits him from owning a weapon. Hepner pleaded guilty in Washington County to a Jan. 7, 2008, charge of theft by unlawful taking or disposition and a June 3, 2009, charge of simple assault; sentence – one year of probation, $1,000 in fines, plus court costs and fees and 75 hours of community service.
Brian Keith Kiger, 35, of 104 Lot 3, Edward Ave., Mt. Morris; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol second offense, DUI incapable of safe driving and three summary traffic violations. Kiger was arrested March 23 when state police saw him run a stop sign along Route 188 in Franklin Township. His blood-alcohol content was 0.120 percent; sentence – 6 months in the county intermediate punishment program, $750 in fines, plus court costs and fees and 50 hours of community service.
Cori Lea Scott, 24, of 126 Fourth St., Waynesburg; offense – criminal trespass. Scott was arrested Aug. 6 after she and an accomplice kicked open a door and entered a residence at the intersection of Fourth Street and Buchannan Avenue in Waynesburg. A neighbor saw the action and called police; sentence – one year probation to be served concurrently to a sentence from Washington County for retail theft. Scott was ordered to pay $250 in fines, plus court costs and fees and to serve 75 hours of community service.
Jacob Clarence Miller, 32, of 115 Rohanna Court, Waynesburg; offenses – two counts of DUI, two counts of DUI incapable of safe driving and three summary traffic violations. Miller was arrested May 25, 2013, and again on Sept. 29, 2013. In the earlier DUI arrest, Miller was pulled over for twice failing to signal while turning in Franklin Township. His blood -alcohol content was 0.121 percent. In the later DUI arrest, he crossed the double line after pulling out of the Carmichaels VFW Post parking lot and again while traveling west on Route 21. His BAC was 0.168 percent; sentence is pending a presentence investigation.
