Jewelry stolen: Rachel Foley, 38, of 115 Second St., Houston, was arraigned Friday before District Judge David Mark on a charge of receiving stolen property filed by Canonsburg police. Cheryl Guzell called police in November to report that medication, coins and $200 were stolen from her home. She told police she also noticed other things missing after Foley visited and found more items were stolen. Police said she later learned that some of her jewelry was sold to a Peters Township jeweler by Foley. Foley was released on her own recognizance.

Drug arrest: Heather Woodring, 39, of 424 Phillips Ridge Road, Spraggs, was arrested Friday by Cecil police in the parking lot of the Turtle Twist ice cream shop on Route 980. According to reports, an officer noticed a car parked in the lot, which is closed for the season. He went to investigate and reported finding Woodring with 28 bags of suspected heroin. Woodring was charged with possession of a controlled substance, manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, Driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended or revoked licence. She was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and released from Washington County jail after posting $20,000 bond.

Theft charges: Kelley Riggle, 27, of 291 Wolf Ave., Canton Township, was charged Monday by North Franklin police with two counts of theft by deception. Police said she allegedly made fraudulent returns and then collected the cash while working at the AT&T kiosk at Washington Crown Center between September and January. The loss totaled $3,500, police said. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Counterfeit money: State police at The Meadows Casino, Racetrack Road, North Strabane, said a counterfeit $10 bill was passed Saturday.

Hurt in wreck: One person was injured in a two-car accident Saturday on Waterdam Road, near the Sherwood interchange. According to police, a car driven by Frances Lucas, 60, of Green Tree Road, Pittsburgh, hit the back of a car driven by Sandra McMahon, 45, of Walnut Drive, Venetia. Both vehicles were eastbound. Tricia May, 43, of Singletree Drive, Veneta, a passenger in the car driven by McMahon, complained of neck pain and was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Theft: Police are investigating the theft Friday of nine boxes of Plan B One-Step Emergency Contraceptive, valued at $450, from Walgreens on East McMurray Road. Police said a white man in his 30s with a scruffy beard, who was wearing a camouflage jacket and blue WVU sweatshirt, was seen putting pill boxes in his jacket. When confronted by the store manager, he ran out the store, got into a car and drove away at a high speed on East McMurray Road.

Gun stolen: Seth Thomas Skariot, 21, of 2035 Route 136, Eighty Four, Somerset, was arrested Friday by state police on charges of criminal trespass and theft after he allegedly went his grandfather’s home and stole a Smith & Wesson .44-magnum handgun from under a mattress. He allegedly told state police he traded the weapon for 25 bags of heroin. Skariot was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Two charged: James D. Siwiak, 20, of 113 Markwood Drive, Canonsburg, and Richard O. Lonero, 22, who police say is homeless and formerly of Canonsburg, were arrested Sunday by South Strabane police after the pair allegedly twice stole items from Walmart, Trinity Point. Store security told police the men were in the store earlier Sunday, reportedly stealing 11 items valued at $227. They returned about 6:40 p.m. and were spotted removing game controllers and headphones in the electronics department, police said. The men allegedly disabled the security devices on the items and left the store before being detained. They were arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on two counts each of retail theft and conspiracy, and were placed in Washington County jail on $1,500 bonds.

Woman jailed: Kayla Kailing, 28, of 32 Reservoir Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with theft, accused of stealing $66 from a woman’s purse while visiting a residence in the 100 block of Schaffer Avenue in Speers about 8 p.m. Dec. 26, court records state. She is in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond after being arraigned Friday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.

Deputy assaulted: Darwin S. Butler Jr., 24, of 1681 E. Maiden St., Washington, was arrested Friday after he allegedly assaulted a sheriff’s deputy trying to take him into custody on a warrant. Butler was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop, and deputies determined he was on a warrant. He allegedly struggled with the deputy as he was taken into custody. Butler was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. He was placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.

Theft charges: Amanda Jackson, 25, of 695 W. Chestnut St., Washington, was charged Monday by Washington police with theft after she allegedly made fraudulent returns while working at Circle K, 701 W. Chestnut St. After voiding the transactions, she allegedly removed $525 from the register. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Charged in crash: Randall Sheppard, 56, of 60 Bel Air Drive, Canton Township, was charged Monday by Washington police with driving under the influence of alcohol and damage to unattended property stemming from a Dec. 31 crash in the 600 block of Allison Avenue. He is accused of hitting a parked car before striking hedges. Police said he refused to submit to blood-alcohol testing. Charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.

Arraigned on charges: Edward Paul, 36, of 19 Penny Lane, Avella, was arraigned Monday before District Judge Robert Redlinger on two sets of charges after he allegedly called his estranged wife, Melissa Paul, from Washington County Jail. He is accused of violating a protection-from-abuse order she obtained from a judge. He also is accused of obstrucitng administration of justice and intimidation of witnesses for allegedly trying to get her to drop assault charges filed against him. Redlinger set bond on the new charges at $10,000.
