Canonsburg apartment fire

1 min read

A Canonsburg woman was checked for smoke inhalation after the refrigerator in her apartment caught fire Tuesday morning.

Kimberly Lucas told police she awoke just after 8 a.m. to the smell of smoke and her refrigerator making noise. She got her neighbor, James Cash, who dumped buckets of water on the fire while waiting for the Canonsburg fire department to arrive. No smoke detectors were seen in the apartment.

The fire was contained to the combined kitchen/living room area. Damage is estimated at $3,000 to the building and $1,000 to contents.

The building is owned by Justin White of McDonald. North Strabane Township firefighters also assisted.
