CHARLEROI – A Charleroi man was arrested Tuesday in connection with separate burglaries in the Mon Valley.

Joshua Leis Vedder, 28, of 800 Washington Ave., was apprehended on a warrant charging him with two counts each of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, trespassing and conspiracy, court records state. He also faces an unrelated charge of possession of heroin paraphernalia.

Charleroi Regional police accuse Vedder of forcing open a door to a residence across the street from his home about 8:20 a.m. Oct. 21 to steal insulation and a new commode and bathroom vanity valued at $170. Police said he later returned the commode and vanity to a Lowe’s home improvement store in nearby Rostraver Township.

Police also accuse him of breaking into a residence in the 500 block of Walnut Avenue in North Charleroi and stealing $500 from a closet about 12:20 p.m. Nov. 10, the affidavit states.

In a third case, police said he was found with syringes about 12:30 p.m. Dec. 22 outside 1100 Lincoln Ave on stairs where drug dealers are known to frequent, court records state.

Vedder is in Washington County jail on a bench warrant and $200,000 bond set by District Judge Larry Hopkins.
