NAACP, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to hold free health insurance seminar
The Washington branch of the NAACP and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services are sponsoring a free health insurance seminar Saturday at St. Paul AME Church, 16 Ridge Ave. Washington, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
An HHS official will present information on the Health Insurance Marketplace and the Medicaid expansion that went into effect Jan. 1. Participants will be able to ask questions and certified counselors will be on hand to help people enroll.
HHS Regional Director Joanne Grossi said HHS partnered with the NAACP to ensure it reaches reach minority communities.
Registration for the event is not required.
The deadline to enroll in Marketplace Health Insurance is Feb. 15. Grossi said financial assistance is available.
