The “deflategate” chocolate football made by Sarris Candies will go home with one lucky person today. Chances are that the highest bidder won’t be a Patriots fan.

The “Bradie” ball – a 2.5-pound chocolate football with a slightly deflated appearance – will be auctioned off Friday morning on KDKA radio.

Host Marty Griffin said the proceeds will be donated to Dollar Energy Fund to provide home heating to families in need. He hopes to raise at least $1,000.

Sarris confectioners made the Bradie ball to poke fun at the controversy surrounding the Patriots and whether the team intentionally used underinflated footballs during their AFC championship game victory.

The story was picked up by the Associated Press and republished by media across the country.

Owner Bill Sarris said he was amazed by how quickly news of the Bradie ball traveled across social media.

He said the reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with a handful of digs from Patriots fans.

His favorite comment was that Sarris should “make a candy bar with holes in it and call in the ‘Pittsburgh defense.'”

“What started out as an internal little joke ended up heading all over the place,” he said. “It’s going to a good cause, so that’s the best thing.”

In addition to the Bradie ball, Sarris will auction off two regular chocolate footballs and two chocolate football helmets, a total package valued at about $500.

Bidders can call into the radio show at 866-391-1020 from 9 a.m. to noon Friday.
