1 min read

PLEASANT HILLS (AP) – Police say a man has been found dead in the Pittsburgh suburbs after a police standoff that began when he reportedly shot and wounded his elderly father.

Police in Pleasant Hills have yet to release the names of those involved, but say a man in his 40s shot his father about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, then refused to surrender for hours after police surrounded the home.

When police finally forced their way in after 10 p.m., they found the son dead of what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot.

Police haven’t said what prompted the altercation and subsequent shootings.

Pleasant Hills Deputy Chief Sean Greene says the elderly man was taken to a hospital in stable condition, with unspecified injuries.
