A Canonsburg man faces indecent assault and other charges after borough police said he beat his roommate Thursday afternoon and forced her to perform a sex act before he returned hours later to allegedly ransack the apartment.

Police said they were called to 209 McShane Ave. for a domestic dispute shortly after 8 p.m. and found a woman with various injuries to her face and head.

The woman told police that her roommate, Brett E. Folk, 43, who had been staying in her apartment in a separate bedroom for several weeks, was drunk when she came home from work about 4:30 p.m. About two hours, Folk awakened and began yelling at the woman to let him in her bedroom, police said, before he kicked down the door and began punching her in the face, neck and back of the head.

He then put the woman on the bed, held her wrists down and forced her to perform a sex act, police said. The woman told investigators she tried to call 911, but Folk allegedly took her phone while she was talking to a dispatcher and threw it.

Officers went to the apartment and knocked on the door, but no one answered, according to court documents. Around that time, the woman said Folk went back to his room and fell asleep. She then texted a friend to ask for help. The friend and her husband showed up at the house, prompting Folk to leave.

Folk was still gone when police returned and found the woman with bruises and swelling around her face and wrists. However, Folk returned about 1:30 a.m. Friday and allegedly broke in through a basement window, police said. The woman said she heard rustling downstairs and her dogs began barking, prompting her to call police again.

Officers found Folk sleeping downstairs. He was arrested and charged with indecent assault, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief, according to court documents. District Judge Robert Redlinger arraigned Folk on the charges Friday morning and he was taken to the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Redlinger at 9 a.m. Feb. 12, court documents indicate.

Police said they are reviewing the second incident with the district attorney’s office to determine if Folk should also face burglary charges.
